George's Folly Wines wins TROPHY at the Sydney Royal Wine Show

We are thrilled to annnounce that George’s Folly Wines was awarded the “International Guest Judge Annual Prize” (Trophy) at the 2023 Sydney Royal Wine Show with their 2021 “Pigs Might Fly” Montepulciano/Nero d’Avola blend.

Established in 1822, The Sydney Royal Wine Show is one of longest running and most prestigious in the country and attracts over 2,200 entries from 350 producers across Australia.

2023 International Guest Judge, Ms Clara Rubin, a well renowned Sommelier, Educator and Head of Wine at Hawksmoor Restaurants in the UK said:

“This year’s winner of the International Guest Judge Prize is a wine that, for me, really embodied something exciting about the wine industry in Australia; new Mediterranean varieties, a blending skill and a talent for something that is expressive but also had these beautiful base notes of tomato leaf, lots of herbaceous character, it was really sanguine and it had a lovely top note of something quite floral and violets, and it is ….. “George’s Folly Nero d’Avola Montepulciano blend”.

This trophy compliments the 2 Gold and 4 Silver medals awarded to this wine at various Royal and Regional shows around Australia over the last 12 months.

In addition to the trophy, our 2021 Nero d'Avola won a Silver medal and our 2021 Shiraz/Roussanne took home a Bronze.
